ARRIVING ON SATURDAY. UNCLE JOHN. Such messages were sent by telegram a quarter of a century ago. It sounds strange today, but at the time it was the only way to send information quickly to the recipient. Technological developments in communication have meant that most countries have abandoned this archaic method of communication since the turn of the century.
The king is dead, long live the king. According to this principle, a new version of Telegram was created in Russia in 2013. The founders of the platform, which was originally called vk.com, were the brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov. Pavel Durov was arrested by French authorities on August 24, 2024, when he went to dinner in Paris. After a few days, he was released from custody, banned from leaving France and had to regularly visit the police station. And all this under the absurd accusation of distributing child pornography, terrorism and similar nonsense. In fact, they accuse him of lack of censorship, which is undoubtedly an advantage of Telegram.
On the Telegram platform, I find both inspiration and documents for my blog articles. Attentive readers will probably have noticed the following note under the photos: Source: Telegram xx.xx.xxx xx:xx. By providing a link and the date and time of publication, I enable interested parties to find the sources.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov had been arrested for several days. After his release under strict court order requirements he is threatend with 10 years imprisonment. Telegram has become a news bubble with over 900 million people. Is this bubble about to burst and what would be the consequences? Are we ready for that? This video shows: It is time to become active! The battle for our freedom to speak freely has reached a heated stage. Terms like “disinformation” and “hate speech” are being used to manipulate public opinion.
Disinformation? Who decides what it is? So far, anything that deviates from media propaganda, any doubts and attempts to start a discussion, ends in accusations of disinformation. This is the easiest way. Instead of starting a discussion that lacks factual arguments, the opponent is pigeonholed with such terms and the long-devalued “conspiracy theorist” is replaced by a new, equally ambiguous epithet.
Hate speech? Yes, it is true that many of us hate this media and political hypocrisy. These are perfectly valid emotions. But how can opinions expressed in the media about the unvaccinated be described as anything other than hate speech? An extreme example is this inscription on the wall:
Politicians have also propagated “nice” slogans. Two years ago, after the Austrian parliament announced compulsory vaccination against the fictitious corona disease, Austrian Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler declared that unvaccinated people had no right to live in Austria:
It is true – hate speech does exist. This is a natural phenomenon in times of humiliation of people accustomed to freedom. The strange thing is that those who fight so courageously against hate speech are ready to use it themselves. Censorship is the first and indispensable step in the introduction of a totalitarian system.
