The title question is purely rhetorical in nature. We all know exactly what it means to bribe officials who can help the donor in various matters. This question was asked by a group of activists in what is considered the most corrupt country in Europe. From this introduction you may have guessed that I mean Ukraine, which is falling into political obscurity.
The authors of this short film presented the “poor” life of the Ukrainian “political elite”. The footage shows the homes of regional deputies, judges, prosecutors and even the Kiev regime’s top officials from Zelensky’s office.
Owning a beautiful and expensive home is not evidence of a crime. However, in a country where 37.7% of the population lived below the poverty line in 2003 (source in Polish, as English Wikipedia is silent on the subject), such wealth must raise suspicions of corruption among state officials.
It’s worth asking how do these officials get rich? During the ongoing war, declared by the West as a holy war against Moscow, it is not difficult to make money if you are in the right position. Such an official only needs to turn a blind eye and silence those who are too curious.
So this money comes indirectly from the USA and EU countries. Not just cash. There is also a black market where the Al-Qassam Brigades, for example, managed to buy AT4 anti-tank guns donated to Ukraine and smuggle them into Gaza. See for yourself:
Around 1869, Bismarck confiscated the private assets of the deposed King George V and used them to combat press corruption.
The visa scandal in Poland showed that if you are able to obtain material benefits, you can benefit from anything. If no one tries to bribe an office, that means no one needs that office.
Corruption is not just about bribing individuals in appropriate positions. Institutions such as the WHO or media companies receive legal subsidies. The mere threat of withholding these subsidies is sufficient motive for these organizations and companies to yield to and cooperate with their benefactors – the philanthropists.
