On Monday, the US Senate confirmed the nomination of Chris Wright as Secretary of Energy – a nightmare for climate activists like John Kerry and Al Gore. Wright declared in a video from 2023 on his LinkedIn page that “there is no climate crisis”. He called climate activists “alarmists” and compared the Biden administration’s climate policy to communism in the Soviet Union.
In 2021, he told the National Conservatism Conference that politicians and the media had never seriously addressed climate change. He also pointed out an enormous misinvestment: Two trillion dollars had been spent to reduce the share of fossil fuels worldwide by just two percent. In 2000, consumption was at 86 percent, and by 2020, “rapidly falling to 84 percent”. “This is not an energy transition,” he says. “They’re not saving the planet. They are robbing us.”
