You have blood on your hands. You have a product that kills people. These words were spoken during yesterday’s hearing of the US Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Lindsey Graham threw those exact words right in Mark Zuckerberg’s face.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has apologized to the families of children harmed online. Senator Josh Hawley (R) – MO demanded Zuckerberg apologize in a tense hearing. Zuckerberg stood up, addressed the parents in the room and said, “No one should have to go through what your family went through.”
This time the mainstream media is not hiding this news under the rug. Detailed reports of this interrogation appeared on several American websites. NBCNEWS published an article yesterday: Zuckerberg apologizes to families of children hurt online as Senate attacks tech company executives.
You will probably agree that an apology will not help the hurting children and their families. Nevertheless, an apology is a first step in the right direction. This does not justify crimes. Without an apology, there can be no fair settlement of crimes of genocide. I’m far from justifying Mark Zuckerberg – after all, he started his career by stealing the idea for Facebook. I also don’t know if yesterday’s apology was the result of calculation or genuine remorse? I guess he’s not sure about it himself.
