I wrote about a strange war over a year ago in March 2022. The strange putsch by Wagner’s private army has been discussed in the propaganda media for several days. Why strange? Several aspects of this rebellion caught my attention. It is interesting, for example, how they process this “coup” in social media. The same agency that called itself Terror Alert labeled this group of mercenary soldiers “freedom fighters,” and six hours later, after announcing the end of the dispute, they became “terrorists.”
The Wagner flag was hoisted in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv.
The owner of Wagner’s private military group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was a chef in St. Petersburg, where he befriended Putin. With Putin’s money, he formed a group of mercenaries and, like his Chechen counterpart Ramzan Kasyrov, set up one of two private armies for the Kremlin’s needs.
I think the whole coup was staged. This is evidenced by the fact that the Russian security services were practically passive, while Prigozhin publicly stated that due to the fact that the Russian army shot several Wagner group mercenaries, he moved to Moscow to seize power. No one who can think logically proclaims such intentions. A coup is always a surprise. So what was the purpose of such a public statement? The only explanation for this phenomenon is propaganda against uninformed citizens. In Washington the champagne corks were popping prematurely, in Moscow they sat and waited for their planned rebellion against themselves to be carried out.
In Minsk, President Lukashenko strengthened his position as head of a nuclear-armed state. At the same time, he proved his loyalty to Moscow. Prigozhin received unnecessary security guarantees and at the same time found himself in a place where it would be much easier for him to take the announced walk around Warsaw. In this case, the Kremlin cannot be accused of attacking Poland. It’s just a rebellious chef with his boys.
